Week #2

Posted by on March 10, 2012

We are just amazed and humbled, because of our member’s awesome support and encouragement and because of the delicious bounty of food growing here at Urbanna Farm. We just wrapped up our 2nd delivery ever and I must say that the blood, sweat, tears and bug squishing is all worth it when I get to see the fruits of our labor and hang out at Hull Park with some really cool people for a couple of hours each Saturday morning. This week, we harvested: Dinosaur Kale, Pac Choi, Popeye’s Favorite (Spinach), Baby Romaine Heads, and Mixed Lettuce. Hearing reviews about how delicious the spinach was last week made me glad to offer more, especially since it can be cooked and frozen for later use. I made my first batch of Kale Chips ever and I can’t wait to experiment with the Pac Choi. To be honest, we’ve never grown Pac Choi and we wouldn’t have if Shaun and Rachel hadn’t requested  it. I’m learning just as much as some of our “Urbanna Family” and it’s great! Yesterday, the farm boy, Bull Frog, turned 1 year old, so we brought some carrot cupcakes to share the love. I hope that our carrots turn out as yummy and beautiful as those from Brant Family Farm. We also learned that another one of our member’s daughter was our wedding photographer!!! We are so thankful to be part of such an incredible, faith-building adventure with our spectacular supporters! Hallelujah!!!
